A selection of sweet Rieslings from the Abtsberg single vineyard of the centuries-old former Benedictine monastery of Maximin Grünhaus on the outskirts of Mertesdorf on the Ruwer tributary of the Mosel.
2001 was widely considered to be a particularly good vintage for the wines of Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, hence winemaker Carl von Schubert was able to make several special Auslese selections, each identified by their Fuder (cask) number.
This lot contains one each of the following:
- Maximin Grünhäuser Abtsberg Riesling Auslese Fuder 145 2001
- Maximin Grünhäuser Abtsberg Riesling Auslese Fuder 190 2001
- Maximin Grünhäuser Abtsberg Riesling Auslese 2001
Auslese is a semi-sweet or sweet style of German wine, made from selected, very ripe grapes based on their ripeness and sugar content, often enhanced by noble rot.
